Bulletin N°58 juin 2025 The international situation is marked by the fact that imperialist wars are taking on a new dimension with the aggression of the United States against Iran 1 , in addition to that of the Zionist entity 2 , the continuation of the war on the territory of Ukraine 3 and the genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied territories 4 .
All the capitalist powers that make up the imperialist system are, to varying degrees, involved in direct clashes, in the form of high-intensity conflicts or hybrid wars, including over customs duties, or indirect ones through proxy wars . These conflicts are becoming increasingly violent, and it is clear, but not surprising, that the generalization of imperialist wars is taking on new dimensions. Thus, the conflict between the US-NATO bloc and the emerging Eurasian bloc is gaining in intensity.
In a statement on the US attack on Iran, the Press Office of the Central Committee of the KKE wrote: " The direct involvement of the United States and the attack with super-powerful penetrating bombs against Iran constitute an escalation of the imperialist war not only in the Middle East, but throughout the world. After Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Palestine, etc., the United States and its allies are now massacring another Middle Eastern country in order to impose their plans and score points in the struggle for supremacy in the world imperialist system. This is also the objective of the Trump administration, contrary to what various spokesmen in Greece have stated, claiming that Trump would play a peacemaking role."
We expressed this assessment in our own press release of June 23: " This attack by the Zionist entity, an organic extension of Western imperialism, aims to protect its interests and to keep the peoples of the region under the thumb of regimes that guarantee its preeminence ." and we added: " The US air force bombings of Iran fully confirm this assessment. This act of violation of Iran's sovereignty is one of the elements that highlights the deep military coordination between the Zionist entity and the United States, as well as their common objectives of economic, political and military domination of the region. After Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Iran must be subjected to the iron law of dominant imperialism, the one of which the President of the United States has just forcefully reminded that he was the military master. This warning is also valid for the competing capitalist powers and in particular the BRICS+ of which Iran is a full member. "
Through their war actions, the United States militarily reaffirms its preeminence in the global imperialist system, and particularly within the US-NATO bloc. They intend for their role to remain unchallenged, and thus justify their role as overlord, allowing them to wage economic wars against all their competitors by demanding unwavering submission from their allies. Thus, they require NATO member countries to increase their defense budgets to 5% of GDP, largely to the benefit of their military-industrial complex.
Faced with this attitude of force, the reactions of allies and competitors to domination within the framework of global capitalism are at best modest. European countries and the European Union, despite some rather verbal attempts, are aligned with the United States and recognize its vassalage. The BRICS+, which Iran is a part of and which some present as a quasi-counter-power to US hegemony, are keeping a low profile, while, like Saudi Arabia (a member of BRICS+), which hosts one of the major American bases in the Middle East, they do not view with displeasure the weakening of one of their regional competitors, Iran. For its part, China, highly dependent on the flow of oil from the Middle East , has remained very measured in its condemnation of US aggression. The significant dependence of Asian countries on gas and oil imports from the Gulf (which accounts for 80% of the oil passing through the Strait of Hormuzd) highlights the strategic nature of the control of this region ensured by the United States-Israel duopoly and the interest for them in a friendly environment in this region, which the countries of the Near and Middle East assure it. This is also the case for the Russian Federation, although deeply engaged in cooperation agreements, including military ones, with Iran, if it has offered itself as a mediator, which the United States obviously does not want.
Faced with this dangerous situation, there is no point in appealing, as some do, to the sacrosanct international law , which the capitalist powers couldn't care less about and which is only an argument to fuel the endless broadcasts where so-called experts rant. The only response is that of the anti-imperialist struggle by clearly identifying the adversary: the capitalist system itself. This struggle must take on a national dimension against our imperialism and in conjunction with internationalist struggles. This is what revolutionaries must work towards, and our party plays its part in it.
