Bulletin No 52 novembre 2024 The continuation of a long war started by the US imperialists and their henchmen
Syria has just fallen. Contrary to what many believe, it is not only the Baathist regime that has ended in recent days but Syria itself, as a free and unified state. The process of destruction of Syria began in 2011 when the US and its allies launched the bands of Salafist mercenaries to destroy the Syrian state and in 2013 when the US army itself came to settle in the Northeast of the country to control the oil fields.
The Astana agreements [1] in 2020 effectively formalized the partition of Syria, even though 80% of the territory returned to the Syrian state. The reconquest of Idlib was underway in 2018, the Iranian generals of the Revolutionary Guards wanted to complete it, they were not heard by Bashar El-Assad who was already negotiating with Turkey. Following the 2020 agreements, Iran and pro-Iranian forces left Syria, particularly in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. These sectors were transferred to the Syrian army which proved incapable of defending them.
The beginnings of the current situation
The Idlib area was teeming with mercenaries, mainly from Central Asia (Tajiks, Uighurs, Uzbeks, Turkmens). Some even talk about Ukrainian military technicians. These people are heavily armed by the US and their neighboring protector, Erdogan's Turkey. This army of mercenaries had been preparing its coup for a long time. It was necessary to be forgotten for a while and try to erase the Islamist fascist aspect. The US media got down to it. And the war in Lebanon was a golden opportunity. In the meantime, the facts are once again implacable. HTS, the former Al-Nusra Front, may not strictly fall under the Islamic State: it is rather a Turkish Islamic State. Commander Abu Mohammed al-Joulani, de facto emir of the new ultra-tested banner, abandoned all variants of Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State to form HTS. He is the head of a group of " jihadists for hire ." And he is a darling of the Turkish MIT.
The complicity between fascist Salafist mercenaries and the Zionist genocidal state is not new. Quite a few of them sought treatment in the Zionist entity’s hospitals between 2011 and 2020.
The Astana agreements are like those of Minsk, they were signed to gain time before attacking. Turkey is playing a double or triple game. It is not necessarily a reliable ally for the USA. But the US enterprise, from Obama to Biden, consists of atomizing Syria and in this game, Erdogan is a sure ally. For years, Ankara has been dying to control Aleppo - even indirectly, in order to " stabilize " it for business (for the benefit of Turkish capitalists) and also to allow the return of a large number of relatively wealthy Aleppo refugees who are currently in Turkey. At the same time, Turkey's occupation of Aleppo is also an American project within the framework of the division of Syria.
Some facts you need to know to understand what is at work
Let us give some salient facts that should at least raise questions about the arrival of this attack in the context of the colonial conflict in Palestine and the Zionist attempt to invade and destroy Lebanon.
The mercenary attack came immediately after Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Lebanon – already broken by the Zionists dozens of times – and after Netanyahu publicly accused Syrian President Bashar Assad of “ playing with fire ” by allowing the transit of modern Iranian missiles and military equipment through Syria to Hezbollah. Just before the ceasefire, the genocidal air force destroyed virtually all communication routes between Syria and Lebanon.
An Israeli official said that in the coming days, Israel could capture more areas inside Syria and further intensify attacks on strategic targets in Syria, in order to prevent weapons from falling into the hands of the rebels. And it did not take long. The Zionists bombed Damascus and its suburbs. Who do they want to prevent access to Syrian weapons? In any case, the mercenaries do not need these weapons, they have enough of them.
At the same time, the US Air Force says it has bombed 21 terrorist targets in central Syria. What are these targets, in an area that was under the Baathist regime and is still partly controlled by the Syrian army?
Concerning the connections between fascist mercenaries and Western imperialism, there is nothing left to prove. Let us nevertheless note the astonishing interview of Al-Julani by CNN aimed at presenting to us as a new man the one who, until last week, was wanted by the USA as a terrorist and had a price on his head. Let us also note the declarations of one of his lieutenants to the Times of Israel : " We wish to live in good understanding with neighboring countries, including Israel. We have no other enemies than the Assad regime, Hezbollah and Iran ." MI6, the British secret service, is demanding that HTS, the organization of Al-Julani's fascists, be removed from the list of terrorist organizations.
Finally, late Sunday, December 8, the Israeli army, already massed on the Golan Heights, penetrated even further into Syria and occupied the city of Quneitra. It also bombed Deraa, which is probably its next objective. There is, however, a difference between the two cities. Quneitra was in the hands of fascist mercenaries who withdrew without offering the slightest resistance to the Zionist army.
What about the “Axis of Resistance”?
In agreement with Ankara, the Russian army organized an airlift on December 8 to evacuate its soldiers from the two bases of Tartus and Latakia and repatriate them to Russia. The Russian government offered asylum to Bashar El-Assad and his relatives, which is the least they could do for a loyal ally.
Iran dispatched a prestigious general of the Revolutionary Guards to Syria, Javad Ghaffari, the former number two of General Soleimani. Supreme Leader Khamenei sent his special envoy, Larijani, to Syria to make proposals for assistance to the Syrian leadership. Iran was ready for a comprehensive and large-scale intervention in Syria. All forces and resources were prepared, and even part of these forces was sent to one of the remote bases of the Syrian army. However, Iran's numerous and persistent demands were rejected by Assad, which led to the current situation and events. And right after that, the army was ordered to abandon Homs without a fight. If in this matter Assad did not follow Iran, it seems that he followed Russia.
In short, Russia has shown that it no longer cares about Syria. It has other fish to fry. Putin in particular considers that he has less need for a port in the Mediterranean now that he has the Oreshnik missiles and in any case he is negotiating with the Algerians to have a new one.
Even in Iran, we know that opinions are very divided at the top of the state. If the Revolutionary Guards are very involved in what is commonly called the Axis of Resistance, therefore the defense of Syria, the Palestinians and the alliance with Hezbollah, others, in the government, are in favor of a negotiation with the US imperialists and do not want a war with the Zionists. The episode of the ceasefire in Lebanon is significant in this regard. If we read the Hezbollah press release, we see that at no time do they say that they signed this agreement. And some officials of the Zionist occupation state have suggested that they had negotiated with Iran.
Trump's reaction to this is significant. He spoke on his Truth network. We understand two things. The first is that he is well aware of having been fooled by the American intelligence services totally involved in the operation. The second is contained in the end of his statement: " Syria is a disaster, but it is not our friend, and the United States should have nothing to do with it. This is not our fight. Let it play out. Don't get involved! ". We can translate this as: " I have other fish to fry too! " Perhaps take care of China?
In any case, everything shows that this axis of the Resistance is a decoy where both Russia and Iran see only their interests as imperialist powers and that those of Russia seem to take precedence over those of Iran. We can now say that the Lebanese Resistance is like that of Palestine: it can only count on itself! All the advocates of a multipolar world of the great contribution of the BRICS for the sovereignty of peoples, of the alliance with certain imperialists to fight the dominant are at their expense. All the imperialists, whatever camp they are, only defend their imperialist interests!
Nothing good is coming for the people
As we have already written, we believe that the fall of the Baathist regime will not improve the fate of the peoples of the region, starting with the Syrian people. Between the North-West and Aleppo, almost in the hands of the Turks, the North-East in the hands of US soldiers and their Kurdish auxiliaries, the South that Israel is beginning to invade, the centre partly in the hands of fascist mercenaries and partly controlled by the Syrian army, no one can say that partition, dismemberment is not underway.
This promises us a scenario that will make the Libyan chaos and its consequences appear as a pleasant diversion. Just one detail, the victors emptied the prisons, of political prisoners of course but also of thousands of jihadists including many French...
In the late 1990s, US leaders theorized about "rogue states" that they wanted to get rid of. After Iraq and Libya, it was Syria's turn. Only Iran and Algeria remained.
The fascist mercenaries are also targeting Lebanon, and those who think they will go as far as Gaza would do better to look towards Beirut. These people have nothing to do with the Palestinians. Moreover, they contribute to Netanyahu's overall plan to make them forget. The imperialist war, the dismemberment of Syria, allow us to look the other way.
But the Revolutionary Communist Party does not forget the Palestinians who are still fighting against Zionist colonialism, against genocide.
