Bulletin No46 mai 2024  One more massacre
Israel again bombed Rafah, in the Gaza Strip, on Sunday May 26. The Palestinians, notably the Red Crescent, present on the scene shortly after the deadly bombing, denounce a massacre caused by the targeting of a center for displaced people.  At least 35 people have died, according to Gaza authorities. This place, organized by UNRWA, the UN refugee agency, had been declared a safe zone by the Zionist state. The Barkasat camp, northwest of Rafah, is one of the new victims of Zionist barbarism.
It's difficult to find words in the face of images of a new massacre in  the Gaza Strip . Corpses littering the ground, the body of a child, carried at arm's length, headless, refugee tents, buildings and vehicles in flames.
The Palestinian presidency accused Israel of having perpetrated “a massacre” by striking a center for displaced people in Rafah. The Palestinian Authority denounces the  “deliberate” targeting  of a site managed by UNRWA. According to the Gaza authorities, the attack left at least 40 dead, the majority of them women and children.
“Videos shared on social media show a huge fire at the site, while paramedics and firefighters appear to be struggling to deal with the situation ,” writes CNN.  “The targeted area included a large container, used as shelter by dozens of families, surrounded by hundreds of tents ,” adds the US channel.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said its ambulances transported " a large number "  of people killed or injured in the attack.
The Palestinian Resistance also reacted. Hamas issued a statement including these words: " We call on the masses of our people in the West Bank, in Jerusalem, in the occupied territories and abroad to stand up and march in anger against this horrible massacre . "
Strikes in other areas of Rafah were also reported late Sunday. The Kuwaiti hospital received the bodies of three people, including that of a pregnant woman.
Egypt has criticized   Israel's  “ deliberate bombing ” of “ tents of displaced people  ” and has deplored since May 28 the death of a border guard killed by the Zionist army.
Israeli propaganda does not change
The Israeli justification is the same as usual. The bombing reportedly targeted  “a Hamas headquarters” in which “ major terrorists ” were operating. The “most moral army in the world” specified: “ The strike was carried out against legitimate targets under international law, thanks to the use of precise munitions and on the basis of precise intelligence ” announced the launch of an internal investigation. But she still dared to say in her press release: “ to have knowledge of information according to which several civilians in the area have been injured ”; the height of cynicism!
Now, Netanyahu speaks of a “tragic accident”. As for his protectors of US imperialism, they do as usual: facade indignation, persistent support. A spokesperson for the White House National Security Council said imperialist authorities were “ distraught ” by images of the Israeli strike that killed “ innocent Palestinians . ” And he hastened to take up Israel's ritual justification: “ Israel has the right to attack Hamas, and we understand that this strike killed two high-ranking Hamas terrorists […]. But as we have made clear, Israel must take every possible precaution to protect civilians .” It's always the same rhetoric, validating the lies of Israeli propaganda, despite the reality. The spokesperson even added that the United States was “ actively engaged in understanding what happened .” As if it were difficult to understand: Israel deliberately targeted a refugee camp to show that no one is safe anywhere, to attack the UN agency for the umpteenth time, to terrorize the population and convince her to leave.
This is the Zionists' response to the ICJ injunction
“ This atrocious massacre perpetrated by the Israeli occupying forces is a challenge to all international resolutions ,” the Palestinian presidency wrote in its press release. And we must remember that, on May 24, barely two days before this massacre, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the highest court of the United Nations, ordered Israel to “  immediately  ” stop its military offensive in Rafah. . It also demanded the abandonment of “any other action carried out in the Rafah governorate which would be likely to inflict on the group of Palestinians in Gaza conditions of existence capable of bringing about its physical or partial destruction  ”. The court also ordered Israel to keep  the Rafah crossing open to allow “unrestricted  ” access for humanitarian aid .
Well here is the response of the genocidal Zionist state to the ICJ: massacre and butchery. The message is clear: “  Keep talking, we will continue, with the support of our Western imperialist protectors!”  »
Israeli impunity must end
The Zionist state displays its determination, but it does not feel as strong as its provocations and genocidal acts want to show.
One thing is certain, in any case, it is not pseudo “international law” which will make it possible to make the genocidaires give in. It is firstly because this right is that of the imperialists and, mainly, of the dominant imperialism, the USA; then because the ICJ, like the UN, regardless of the good will of judges or United Nations employees, has no means of enforcing its injunctions. Israel has also flouted all UN resolutions since the beginning of its self-proclaimed existence.
But the Zionist state is weakened by the global protests of workers and youth, people have had enough of the genocide and its impunity. We must continue, our only weapon is the active solidarity of people with the fight of the Palestinian Resistance. The boycott of Israeli products and those who trade with them is also an effective weapon. The international BDS boycott against Carrefour affects the brand enough for it to consider reselling all its franchised stores in Israel. And we must step up the pressure so that economic and diplomatic sanctions are taken. The European Union is an important partner of the Zionists; a suspension of the agreement which binds them would put in difficulty the colonial State, whose economy is hardly flourishing. Finally, it is important to continue to demand an end to arms deliveries.
It is thus and only thus, and not by droning on about pseudo international law, that we will obtain an end to the genocide and an end to impunity for the Zionist leaders and their colonial state.
In conclusion
The Palestinian question, the national liberation struggle of its people must remain the major concern of the people, the youth and the workers of the world. Under these conditions, if it is urgent and fundamental to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire, as well as free access for humanitarian workers throughout the Gaza Strip, or even the total withdrawal of the occupying forces from the enclave, that cannot be enough.

This is why the Communist Revolutionary Party intends to bring together all those who want an immediate ceasefire so that the massacre of the Palestinians stops and to speak out for peace. For us, this involves supporting the fundamental demands of the Palestinian national liberation movement: an immediate end to Zionist military aggression, the right of refugees to return and the formation of a Palestinian state on the territory of Mandatory Palestine.
